PANDORA - Persistent Autonomy through Learning, Adaptation, Observation and Replanning
نویسندگان
چکیده
PANDORA is a EU FP7 project that is developing new computational methods to make underwater robots Persistently Autonomous, significantly reducing the frequency of assistance requests. The aim of the project is to extend the range of tasks that can be carried on autonomously and increase their complexity while reducing the need for operator assistances. Dynamic adaptation to the change of conditions is very important while addressing autonomy in the real world and not just in well-known situation. The key of Pandora is the ability to recognise failure and respond to it, at all levels of abstraction. Under the guidance of major industrial players, validation tasks of inspection, cleaning and valve turning have been trialled with partners’ AUVs in Scotland and Spain.

The Impact of Fostering Learner Autonomy through Implementing Cooperative Learning Strategies on Inferential Reading Comprehension Ability of Iranian EFL Learners
Abstract The great shift of paradigm from teacher-centeredness to learner-centeredness has one major rationale in line with the definitions of autonomy, i.e., the capacity and willingness to act independently and in cooperation with others, so cooperation is looked upon as the manifestation of autonomy. In the present study, the researchers investigated the impact of training cooperative...
متن کاملGP-Localize: Persistent Mobile Robot Localization Using Online Sparse Gaussian Process Observation Model
Central to robot exploration and mapping is the task of persistent localization in environmental fields characterized by spatially correlated measurements. This paper presents a Gaussian process localization (GP-Localize) algorithm that, in contrast to existing works, can exploit the spatially correlated field measurements taken during a robot’s exploration (instead of relying on prior training...
متن کاملRole of Teacher-Constructed vs. Cooperative Concept Map Learning Strategies in EFL Learners’ Reading Comprehension and Autonomy
The purpose of this study was to investigate the impact of 2 concept map (CM) learning strategies on Iranian EFL learners’ reading comprehension ability and learner autonomy. To this end, 60 Iranian EFL learners at the preintermediate level of language proficiency were randomly assigned to 2 groups. Both groups received an 8-week instruction: one through teacher-constructed and the other throug...
متن کاملInvestigating a Systematic Approach to the Promotion of EFL Learners’ Autonomy
Abstract Autonomy is the ability to take charge of one’s own learning. However, this ability is not inborn and must be acquired by formal instruction (Holec, 1981). Therefore, to offer a systematic approach to the devel-opment of learner autonomy in language learning process, Benson (2001) argues that learner autonomy is described in terms of learners’ control over the three dimensions of lea...
متن کاملEfficient Plan Adaptation through Replanning Windows and Heuristic Goals
Fast plan adaptation is important in many AI-applications. From a theoretical point of view, in the worst case adapting an existing plan to solve a new problem is no more efficient than a complete regeneration of the plan. However, in practice plan adaptation can be much more efficient than plan generation, especially when the adapted plan can be obtained by performing a limited amount of chang...
